with a sustainable emphasis

Calling Kapiti Coast artists

Registration is now open for the 2008 Kapiti Coast Arts Trail on the weekend of November 8 and 9, the opportunity for Kapiti Coast artists to demonstrate, display and sell their work in the festive atmosphere of a district wide event.

Kapiti Coast District Council Arts Coordinator Lucy Potter says she already has a list of people keen to participate but now is the time to register formally.

Information and an application form is available here or from Council offices and district libraries.

Grants available

Applications are now being sought for the Community Grants Scheme, Employment Initiatives & Creative Communities Schemes.  Application forms & information leaflets are available at all the Libraries, Customer Services Rimu Rd & the Kapiti Community Centre as well as this website.

Applications close on Friday 26 September 2008.

Consultation

 The Kapiti Coast District Council welcomes and values input from the people of the Kapiti Coast District so it can adequately reflect their views in its decision making.

A series of forums

Kapiti Coast - Choosing Futures 2009

To start the Community Plan development and engage with groups in the community with special interests in the outcomes, a series of forums are being held.
 
They’re running through August/early September.  (Yes, we know, to be strictly correct it should be “fora” but these days “forums” seems less confusing.)

The Council is calling for expressions of interest from community members for a vacancy on the Community Liaison Group which assists with the implementation of the Paraparaumu Airport Noise Management Plan.

Sustainable Newsletter launched

You are invited to join On to it, a monthly Kapiti Coast sustainable newsletter.

We want to build on the successes of the Sustainable Home and Garden Show by offering a monthly newsletter on good sustainable ideas for the Kapiti Coast.

On to it will keep you up to speed on any sustainable incentives offered by the Council and other agencies.

On to it will have articles from the Green Gardener on what to do in the garden for the month and the Eco Designer on good tips for keeping your home warm and toasty.  

On to it will also have upcoming events of interest, such as composting courses offered by the Green Gardener or Eco Designer workshops on making your home warm and dry.

On to it will be sent to your email account at the start of each month. Hard copies will also be available at the District libraries.
