We regularly carry out maintenance works to keep our roads around the district in tip-top shape.
Well-maintained roads are an important part of keeping people safe. While we aim to do this work with as little disruption as possible, we know roadworks can be inconvenient and frustrating. Thank you for your patience and understanding while we do this important work.
Local roads can be resurfaced with chipseal or asphalt, and while we do this work we put traffic management plans in place to make sure there's as little disruption as possible to road users.
Please drive carefully through work sites and stick to the temporary speed limits.
NOTE: Roadworks are dependent on weather and other factors. If bad weather strikes, work will be postponed to the next suitable day or night.
August - September
PAEKĀKĀRIKI HILL ROAD RETAINING WALL BUILD
When: Tuesday 8 August for approximately two weeks. Day and night.
What: There's a dropout (a slip on the cliff side of the road) approximately 1km up the Paekākariki Hill Road when you're coming from the SH1 side. We'll be working day and night for around two weeks to build a retaining wall to hold up the road and prevent future dropouts.
How it will affect you: During the day we'll have stop/go traffic management in place, and at night there will be priority give way set up. If you travel this road, please allow a little extra time for your journey, and take care around the worksite to keep everyone safe.
RAUMATI ROAD MAINTENANCE AND REPAIRS
What: Now that Expressway construction traffic is off Raumati Road, we need to do some work to repair the road surface between Rimu and Rata Roads. We've carried out some works to repair this section, and we'll need to come back in July to finish off a small section near Rata Road.
How it will affect you: Stop/go will be in place to make sure our team can carry out the works safely. Please allow a little more time for your journey and take care in the area.

The project involves removing the existing footpath and replacing it with a new 2.5 metre shared path.
POPLAR AVENUE/LEINSTER AVENUE RIGHT TURN BAY
When: Underway. These improvements are expected to by late November.

Pram ramps and a pedestrian island will also be installed on Leinster Avenue to enable people to cross the road safely and connect with the southern-end of the Mackays to Peka Peka Cycleway, Walkway and Bridleway.
The work involves removing power powers and shifting the kerb line on the south side of Poplar Ave to create space for the right turn bay. Traffic management will be in place to enable the work to be carried out safely.
TE MOANA ROAD/PARK AVENUE INTERSECTION UPGRADE
When: Underway. Expected completion by late August.
